The PS3 on the other hand may not have had that many hardware failures reported, but it has had a few problems with its firmware in the past. This is why we were both surprised and interested to see PSX Extreme asking the question “”
Game stability of the Xbox 360 and PS3 has not been compared as much as the other issues. The author explains in detail, and sums-up by saying that they have had far less problems with PS3 games than with 360 games.

Personally it’ll have to be the PS3 not cos the 360 of mine is broke at the moment, but cos with the ps3 i think what you pay extra for in that gives you a more relayable machine (I now most the cost is the bluray but still) it is more relayable. I have never had a firm war update problem but have heard people who have a problem that I think the ps3 has is everyone says how quite it is but there are times it will be as loud as a 360. At hte moment 360 strenghs are games and online with the catch of bad relablitie, the ps3 has bluray, free online and alround more to offer in the long run with little problems with the catch of bad online costs way more and annoying install crap >:( but is better, so there we go PS3 is better but at a cost
All I can say it that I have never had a problem with any game I purchased for the 360 so far, nor have I had any problems with the firmware. I did return the 360 once for the red ring problem but quickly received a new one as replacement free of charge and was totally satisfied with the quick turnaround time and customer service to make it happen. I don’t own a PS3 so can not make a comparison between the two, but it certainly can’t do any better than zero problems on my 360 no can it
If I were buying one of the two today, knowing that the hardware problems are now resolved with the 360, I still without question would choose the 360 over the PS3 due to the obvious advantage the 360 has in great games. Now that netflix is streamed to the 360 and eventually will open up all movies through their service…blu ray is destined the 8 track tape route as a future. The blu ray movies are way to expensive and why would I buy any movie when I can watch them from any computer in the world whenever I want through Netflix
If all we concentrate on is looking at the two from a gaming perspective, the 360 has proven time and time again during this generation that they dominate with the level and number of high quality games they continue to produce.
I work at both gamestop and blockbuster. At both places over the last year I could count the bluerays i have thrown away on my two hands, That includes movie rentals and game exchanges at gamestop. I don’t want to even get into how often the dvd gets thrown away. Out of 10 used games we sell at gamestop i expect 1 or 2 of them back to get a new one. I believe this is why so many people don’t have issues with the ps3 games. The game media is better built. However, at the same time this could also be a profit mechanism for MS and the game developers. People have to buy more copies of the Xbox game then the ps game. I will get 1-3 people a month that are repurchasing a movie or game they have because the dvd is too scratched. This repurchase in turn creates more income for MS and DVD companies.
I would love to see a study about how many times have you repurchased a game I think it may explain the long term games sales differential between ps3/x360
I have had an xbox and a ps3 for a long time now and i haven’t had to get a new copy of any game - i think the last time i had a problem with a game was some game on my xox original a long time ago
I have owned my 360 for, what… 2 years A long time, anyway. I play it daily. I have never had a single problem with it. No red ring. I’ve played everything from Portal to Dead Space to Bioshock and had nothing but highly addictive, enjoyable experiences. My Xbox is rock solid.
Freezing is a problem with the PS3. I don’t have issues with games, however any app that uses the browser; Home, LwP or the browser itself is prone to freezing. I put it down to inadequate memory.
I own both machines and have had lock ups often on both systems, streaming movies is never going to look as good as bluray, streaming is clearly more conveinient but at the cost of picture and sound quality. Bluray is far from being 8 track, in my country the internet is a long way off being a good option for good quality movies on the fly, its just to slow.
If I am going to purchase a new multiplatform game I always go for the ps3 version as I have had far less problems and game freezes with that machine and I refuse to pay for something that should be free (Live), as it offers the exact same experience as psn for me as I dont like using voice chat while playing.
Ps3 is by far the more stable machine in my experience.
hey fanboy netflixs streams in highdef i was just wacthing jericho last night in highdef.
If you think Netflix is streaming 1080 P HD to your PC, you need a better education.
Dumbass i didnt say 1080p i said highdef be it 720 or higher but i know i wont get 1080p.
you said live offers the exact same thing on both consoles, thats not true they are two completly different experiences and i can say this becaue i have both if you have never tried xbl how do u know its not worth the 50$ per year…
To the xbox 360 fanboy, better games please tell me I’m intreaged
(IF YOU SAY HALO!!!!!!!)
I’m one of the people who profer PS3 but hey dude Halo is good (though shooters aint my thing) as for no good PS3 games thats crazy. There are more on 360 but PS3 has loads to offer and I love it LBP amazing with mates and lets not forget MGS4 legend. ——————-
360 is my silver medal thats alittle broke.
PS3 is the gold but like gold is alittle pricey.
Had my PS3 at the begining first in store and 360 I had it when Halo 3 came (yeah it is that good)
Add me as a PSN friend I’m RSM-HQ
I personally don’t have xbox but from what my friends say some people hate halo some people love it
Stephen: I’m glad you can spell. Also, I suggest that you turn your level of trolling down a bit. I mean, it seems you are a Playstation 3 supporter. I promise you that no matter how hard you knock the 360 and how much you push the PS3 that Sony won’t send you a cheque in the mail for your efforts. With that being said, the PS3 OS seems more stable to me and easier to use in ia sense than the XBOX 360 OS.
Had my box for about 1 1/2 years, never had a problem. It was really loud but NXE install solved that problem. You can streamline any new movie that comes out w/ netflix for about 10 bucks a month in HD; since I already spent more than that in blockbuster rentals anyway… And hopefully, MS silverlight will be streaming netflix in 1080p soon enough. Oh and by the way, NEVER had a to buy a single dvd twice. PS3 does have a pretty good line of exclusives lined up for the “near future” (it takes about 5 years to produce a quality ps3 exclusive), but i still got GOW, fable, plenty of cross platform games, halo odst, mass effect 2, and Forza 3 to look forward to.
